December to March - Bishop Monkton The Movie !!

We’re delighted to bring you advance notice of the next blockbuster to hit our screens and it’ll be filmed right here in Bishop Monkton with the cameras set to roll early in the New Year.  The stars of this film won’t be Brad Pitt or Judi Dench but the people of Bishop Monkton and their pubs!

The Bishop Monkton Local History Group is making a short film about the history of the village’s alehouses – the two still in business and the five others that existed in the past.

The film’s producer Colin Philpott has already spoken to a number of villagers as part of the research into the film but he’s keen to hear from anyone else with ideas and material to contribute.  If you’ve particular stories about any of the pubs involving you or family members, or if you have any pictures or other material, Colin would love to chat with you in the next few weeks.

Filming is due to take place at the end of January and it’s hoped the film will be ready to premiere in the Spring! The film is a pilot for a possible future series featuring various aspects of the village’s history.

Colin con be contacted on colinmphilpott@yahoo.co.uk or on 01765 676805 or 07791 341074.

Bishop Monkton Yesterday - our Website, a presentation and discussion

We will 'show', on the big screen, the current state of the website, particularly for those who have no internet access to view our online website as well as for those who have seen all or parts of it and would like further details or to discuss, correct, amend or augment what is already there.

The site is very much a work in progress and we hope that those with anything of interest will bring them along, whether photos, documents or items.  We hope that it becomes a 'two way' flow of information.

This is obviously a free event so please bring along anyone that you feel might be interested.
